Wk8 // Celebrating the principles of leadership
Wk8 // Celebrating the principles of leadership
February 20, 2024

Presidents’ Day, celebrated on the third Monday of February, is a time to honor the contributions of our nation’s presidents and reflect on their enduring impact on our country. Originally established to honor George Washington’s birthday on February 22nd, Presidents’ Day has evolved into a day to commemorate all U.S. presidents, past and present and the principles of leadership, integrity, and vision that have shaped our nation’s history. It was first recognized as a federal holiday in 1885, but it wasn’t until the Uniform Monday Holiday Act of 1971 that it was officially moved to the third Monday in February to create a long weekend and honor both Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday falls on February 12th.

So thanks to that bill that made Monday bank Holidays uniform, we are blessed to have a long weekend that many of us choose to fill with rest and relaxation after the long Holiday and winter season.

Now is when we pat ourselves on the back about upholding these same principles our presidents did of service and leadership through hard times. While we think this is true, let’s be honest, we’ve gone through several different eras of leadership, philosophy, and value sets and to say we embody all these would be a stretch.

So today, in many states, like CA, TX and FL, the insurance markets for property and casualty are tightening and in life insurance there may be new changes legally regarding long term care and estate taxes that may cause you to relook at your coverage.  But I’m sure on a personal level we are all a bit tired and need this day, and for us, all our carriers are closed.

So take time and check in with yourselves.  The natural high of the new year has faded and maybe some resolutions have too but the need for coverage and proper financial planning are necessary to face.  Relax, recoup, discuss where you want to be by the end of 2024 and come to us for any help you may need.
